Estudio en la escuela militar de Santiago, fue regidor de la Municipalidad de Concepción en cinco ocasiones y alcalde de la misma ciudad en dos períodos. Además fue nombrado diputado por la Decimoséptima Agrupación Departamental de "Concepción, Tomé, Talcahuano, Yumbel y Coronel", período de 1945 a 1949. Integró la Comisión Permanente de Gobierno Interior y fue diputado reemplazante en la Comisión Permanente de Economía y Comercio.
